Beyoncé Knowles Unveils New Whiskey Brand “SirDavis,” Blending Heritage and Luxury

Global music icon Beyoncé Knowles has expanded her entrepreneurial endeavors by stepping into the luxury spirits market with the launch of her whiskey brand, SirDavis. This new venture, in collaboration with LVMH’s Moët Hennessy, showcases Beyoncé’s growing influence beyond music, tapping into a thriving trend of celebrity-endorsed premium alcohol brands.
Beyoncé made the announcement on Tuesday through a captivating Instagram post, where she is seen holding a glass of SirDavis whiskey with the caption, “DAVIS IN MY BONES,” directing her followers to the brand’s website. This strategic launch aims to cater to the increasing demand for high-end spirits, following the successful examples set by other celebrities such as George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg.
SirDavis is more than just a business venture; it’s a tribute to Beyoncé’s personal heritage. The brand is named after her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who was a moonshine producer during the Prohibition era. The whiskey, which is crafted and bottled in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston, features a distinctive blend of 51% rye and 49% malted barley, aged in sherry casks. This maturation process imparts a flavor profile described as “bold sophistication.” Priced at $89.99 per 750ml bottle, SirDavis is set to hit the market in early September.
This whiskey launch could play a significant role in pushing Beyoncé closer to billionaire status, a trajectory similar to that of her husband, Jay Z. Jay Z has seen substantial financial success through his alcohol ventures, notably earning $300 million from the sale of half of his luxury champagne brand, Ace of Spades, to LVMH in 2021, and $750 million from selling a majority stake in D’ussé Cognac to Bacardi.
Currently, Beyoncé is ranked 45th on Forbes’ list of America’s wealthiest self-made women, with an estimated net worth of $760 million. The introduction of SirDavis has the potential to elevate her financial standing further, bringing her closer to the exclusive billionaire club.
Beyoncé’s move into the whiskey industry aligns with a broader trend of celebrities leveraging their fame to create successful premium liquor brands. For instance, Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin was sold to Diageo for $610 million in 2020, and George Clooney’s Casamigos tequila fetched up to $1 billion when it was sold in 2017. Additionally, Sean “Diddy” Combs has earned nearly $1 billion through his partnerships with Diageo for Ciroc vodka and DeLeón tequila.
SirDavis also joins a growing list of whiskey brands launched by musicians, including Darius Rucker’s Backstage Southern Whiskey and Willie Nelson’s Old Whiskey River. The brand’s sleek, bronzed bottle design reflects Beyoncé’s recent artistic themes and her family’s rich legacy.
This launch is particularly significant for Moët Hennessy as it represents the company’s first spirit brand developed entirely in the United States. As Beyoncé enters the competitive whiskey market, all eyes will be on SirDavis to see if it can achieve the same level of success as other celebrity-backed liquor brands.
