Kingston, Jamaica – In a bold step toward revolutionizing oral health care in Jamaica, Colgate-Palmolive officially launched its latest innovation—Colgate Total Active Prevention—at an event held at the prestigious Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. The new product, which features the brand’s most scientifically advanced antibacterial formula to date, is set to transform how Jamaicans care for their smiles.

A New Era in Preventive Oral Health

Described as a comprehensive oral health solution, Colgate Total Active Prevention is engineered to target bacteria—the root cause of many common dental issues—before they can take hold. The toothpaste, when used in conjunction with Colgate’s specially designed high-density bristle toothbrush and antibacterial mouthwash, has been shown to be 15 times more effective at combating harmful bacteria.

Monica Calvo, Senior Director of Customer Development for Colgate-Palmolive’s Caribbean Region, welcomed attendees and reaffirmed the company’s mission. “We are Colgate-Palmolive, a company of Growth, Innovation, and Care, reimagining a healthier future for all people, their pets, and our planet,” she said. Calvo also highlighted Colgate’s proud position as the #1 oral care brand in Jamaica.

Anchored in Science, Backed by Professionals

Laura Polanco, Brand Development Manager for Oral Care, characterized the product launch as the dawn of a “new era in oral health.” She emphasized the product’s 24-hour antibacterial protection, which offers round-the-clock defense when paired with the brand’s complete oral care system.

The launch received strong endorsement from Jamaica’s dental elite. Dr. Wendy Chuck-Francis, President of the Jamaica Dental Association, praised the formulation’s inclusion of stannous fluoride, describing it as a “valuable tool for dental practitioners.” She also lauded the new toothbrush design for its role in effectively removing plaque bacteria.

Ervin McKenzie, Chief Dental Officer at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, echoed the sentiment, applauding Colgate’s long-standing partnership with the Ministry and ongoing public education efforts. “For me, as the Jamaica chief smile builder, it is particularly important to have something else in our armamentarium to ensure good oral health—because we can’t really be healthy without good oral health,” McKenzie stated.

Strengthening Community Ties

The event was well attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from Cari-Med Ltd., the official distributor, and members of the dental and healthcare community. José Manuel Castillo, Director of Customer Development for the Caribbean Region, underlined the brand’s success pillars in Jamaica: long-term commitment, dynamic in-store engagement, a consistent media presence, professional alliances, and a robust product portfolio.

As Colgate-Palmolive introduces Colgate Total Active Prevention to Jamaican households, the company reinforces its dedication to pioneering solutions that go beyond treatment to offer powerful preventive care, improving not just smiles—but overall well-being across the island.
