Indies Pharma Posts Stable Nine-Month Performance Amid Revenue Pressures; Raises J$1B Bond for Strategic Growth

Kingston, Jamaica — September 2025
Indies Pharma Jamaica Limited has released its nine-month (Q3) unaudited financial results for the period ending July 31, 2025, showing modest resilience despite revenue pressures. The pharmaceutical distributor reported revenue of J$856 million, reflecting a slight 1.3% decline year-over-year compared to J$867 million in 2024.

While sales softened, gross profit held steady at J$589.5 million, up marginally by 0.3%, suggesting strong cost controls. However, net profit dipped by 4.1% to J$168.5 million, compared to J$175.7 million for the same period in 2024.

  • Gross Profit: J$170 million, representing a 10.6% decrease.

Management attributed the downturn to delays in new product approvals from the Ministry of Health and late arrivals of out-of-stock items, which impacted revenue growth. Strategic increases in marketing and sampling also weighed on margins.

Balance Sheet Strength and Asset Revaluation

As of July 31, 2025, Indies Pharma reported total assets of J$2.78 billion, up 25% year-over-year. A key driver was the revaluation of a three-acre property earmarked for its future corporate headquarters. • Shareholder’s Equity: J$1.72 billion (↑ 37.6% year-over-year).
  • Total Liabilities: J$1.07 billion (↑ 9%).
  • Revaluation Reserve: Jumped to J$893 million, up from J$458 million in 2024.

Cash Flow Movements

Operating cash flows strengthened, generating J$301 million, compared to J$161 million in the prior year. However, investing outflows rose due to J$39 million spent on fixed assets and J$31.5 million on intangibles. Financing outflows included dividend payments of J$179.9 million and lease repayments, resulting in a net cash decrease of J$6.5 million for the nine months .

Bond Issuance: J$1 Billion Raised for Growth

In a filing dated September 22, 2025, Indies Pharma disclosed that it successfully completed a J$1 Billion private placement bond issuance arranged by NCB Capital Markets Limited .

  • The funds refinanced an existing J$805 million bond, which matured in September 2025.
  • The remaining proceeds will support strategic investments, positioning the company for expansion in the pharmaceutical sector.

Shareholding Structure

The company remains majority-owned by Bioprist Holdings Inc. (75.6%), followed by GK Investments Limited (3.4%) and co-founder Dr. Guna S. Muppuri (2.6%). Other institutional investors include Barita Investments and Sagicor Select Fund .

Outlook

Despite revenue headwinds in Q3, Indies Pharma’s fundamentals remain robust, underpinned by solid asset growth, equity expansion, and improved operating cash flows. The strategic refinancing via the J$1B bond offers fresh capital flexibility as the company pursues growth initiatives, including its corporate headquarters project and expansion into new product lines.

The key challenge ahead lies in resolving supply chain delays and securing timely product approvals to restore topline growth. Still, with strengthened capital resources and stable profitability, Indies Pharma remains well-positioned in Jamaica’s pharmaceutical landscape.
