JP Farms Recognized for Excellence in Agriculture with National Quality Award

JP Tropical Foods Limited’s JP Farms division has earned a prestigious accolade for its remarkable contributions to Jamaica’s agricultural landscape. The company has been awarded the National Quality Award (NQA) for Excellence in Agriculture by the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ). This honor highlights the farm’s commitment to producing high-quality agricultural products and its leadership within the sector.
The NQA, which celebrates its 20th year, is Jamaica’s foremost awards program focused on quality systems across various industries, including manufacturing, services, agriculture, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The agricultural category, introduced in the 2015-2016 cycle, emphasizes the sector’s essential role in driving national economic growth and sustainability.
JP Farms, located in St. Mary, stood out among the contenders after undergoing a comprehensive evaluation process. The assessment examined five critical areas: Organizational Focus, Customer Focus, Human Resource Focus, Process Management, and Business Results. Following a meticulous self-assessment and a thorough audit conducted by BSJ-appointed auditors, the farm emerged as the top performer in its category.
Mario Figueroa, General Manager of JP Farms, expressed immense pride in receiving the award. He acknowledged the challenges the farm faced, particularly the disruptions caused by Hurricane Beryl, and highlighted how the company’s recovery programs allowed them to bounce back quickly. “This award is a testament to our resilience, and it affirms our ongoing commitment to delivering excellence in Jamaican agriculture. We are excited to continue growing and innovating despite the setbacks,” Figueroa stated.
Looking forward, Figueroa emphasized the farm’s strategic objectives, which include enhancing banana production, expanding plantain cultivation, diversifying crop offerings, and increasing local supply and food exports. He noted, “Our focus remains on strengthening our operations and delivering high-quality produce. This recognition is just one of many milestones on our journey to becoming a key player in Jamaica’s agricultural export market.”
The recognition of JP Farms further solidifies the company’s position as an industry leader, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability, quality, and innovation. With this award, JP Farms is poised to continue its positive impact on Jamaica’s agricultural sector while contributing to the country’s growth and food security.
