PepsiCo Expands Portfolio with $1.2 Billion Acquisition of Siete Foods

In a significant strategic move, PepsiCo has announced its acquisition of Siete Foods, a fast-growing Mexican-American food company, for $1.2 billion. This marks PepsiCo’s first major food acquisition in nearly five years, as the company continues to enhance its offerings in the health-conscious consumer market.

Founded in 2014 by Veronica Garza, Siete Foods started with a focus on grain-free tortillas. Since then, the company has successfully expanded its product line to include tortilla chips, taco shells, salsas, and seasonings, catering to a variety of dietary needs. Siete Foods has gained widespread distribution across major retail outlets like Target, Kroger, Whole Foods, and CVS, becoming a favorite among consumers seeking healthier, culturally diverse food options.

PepsiCo’s CEO, Ramon Laguarta, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, highlighting the potential for growth: “We are thrilled to integrate Siete Foods into our multicultural portfolio, and we look forward to more consumers enjoying their innovative products.”

The acquisition, which is set to be finalized in the first half of 2025 pending regulatory approval, reflects PepsiCo’s broader strategy of diversifying its offerings with healthier food choices. This move also mirrors a larger industry trend, where major food companies are turning to acquisitions to drive growth amid changing consumer preferences.

Earlier this year, other notable deals in the food sector included Mars’ $36 billion acquisition of Pringles’ parent company Kellanova, and Campbell Soup’s $2.7 billion purchase of Sovos Brands, known for its popular Rao’s pasta sauces. These deals signal the continued importance of mergers and acquisitions as a strategy for growth in the competitive food industry.

With the acquisition of Siete Foods, PepsiCo aims to further strengthen its position in the health-conscious and culturally diverse food market, offering consumers more innovative and wholesome food choices.
