Porsche Jamaica and Evergo Jamaica Partner to Offer Free EV Charging for Customers

In a bold move to promote sustainable transportation, Porsche Jamaica and Evergo Jamaica have entered into a strategic partnership that promises significant benefits for electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid vehicle owners. This collaboration offers free charging services for customers, significantly reducing the cost of ownership while contributing to a greener environment. The initiative aligns with both companies’ commitment to reducing emissions and enhancing EV infrastructure across Jamaica.
Uché McLean, Head of Business at Porsche Jamaica, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re pleased to reinforce our commitment to a greener environment by reducing emissions and offering greater charging solutions to customers. While the Taycan can travel more than 400km on a single charge, comfortably from Kingston to Montego Bay with a charge to spare, customers will be able to continue enjoying the Porsche Passion even further thanks to these Porsche Destination Chargers throughout Jamaica.”
Dr. Wayne McKenzie, President and CEO of Evergo Jamaica, echoed McLean’s sentiments, emphasizing the partnership’s alignment with Evergo’s mission to foster a sustainable future through innovative and accessible electric vehicle solutions. “We are proud to partner with a forward-thinking brand like Porsche to empower more Jamaicans to experience electric mobility’s environmental and economic benefits. Our expanding network ensures EV drivers can confidently explore the island, and we remain committed to reaching 100 charging stations by the end of 2024,” McKenzie said.
As part of this exclusive partnership, customers purchasing the all-electric Porsche Taycan will receive one year or the equivalent of 10,000 km of free charging at Evergo stations island-wide. Those opting for plug-in hybrid models like the Panamera or Cayenne will enjoy one year or up to 4,000 km of complimentary charging.
Currently, Evergo has installed 68 charging stations throughout Jamaica, strategically located at shopping centers, supermarkets, and restaurants. In 2023, four of these locations were designated as Porsche Evergo Destination Chargers. These are situated at Murray’s Fish and Jerk Hut in Clarendon, Bayshore Plaza in Portland, LFA Country Store in Llandovery, St Ann, and JamGas Convenience Store in Mandeville.
McLean views this strategic collaboration as a significant milestone in advancing e-mobility in Jamaica. With the successful launch of the first all-electric Porsche Taycan last year, Porsche Jamaica is gearing up for an electrifying year ahead. The introduction of the first all-electric SUV, the all-electric Macan, the new all-electric Taycan, and the all-new Panamera 4S E-Hybrid are all on the horizon.
This partnership between Porsche Jamaica and Evergo Jamaica is set to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles on the island. It offers customers cutting-edge automotive technology and the convenience of an expanding and accessible charging network. As both companies continue to champion environmental sustainability, Jamaican drivers can look forward to a future where electric mobility is seamlessly integrated into their everyday lives.
