Record-Breaking Real Estate Deal in Delray Beach: Casa Maranello Sells for $50.5 Million

Delray Beach, Florida, has made headlines with an unprecedented real estate transaction. The sale of Casa Maranello, a Ferrari-inspired mansion, has set a new record in the area, fetching an astounding $50.5 million. This deal, which is not only the largest in the town’s history but also unique in its structure, involved a mansion swap, bespoke furnishings, high-end art, luxury alcohol, and even a miniature Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa sports car.
The mansion, known for its striking Ferrari-themed design, was acquired by a trust tied to William Cafaro, the co-president of a retail property development company in Niles, Ohio. The transaction was carried out through a combination of $24.5 million in cash and a deed exchange for Cafaro’s 18,000-square-foot estate at 9200 Rockybrook Way, valued at $26 million. The buyer’s payment also included real estate valued at $55 million in total.
Senada Adzem, the listing agent, who managed both sides of the transaction, called the deal complex due to the numerous stakeholders and high-value assets involved. Casa Maranello is located in Stone Creek Ranch, one of the most prestigious gated communities in Delray Beach, and is situated just under 1,000 feet from Cafaro’s previous home.
The Rockybrook estate, now part of Cafaro’s portfolio, sits on 2.5 acres and features seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms. Aldo Stark, the architect behind Casa Maranello, has already begun significant renovations to the property, incorporating rare materials, custom lighting, and unique furnishings. Stark plans to relist the estate once the updates are complete.
At more than $2,400 per square foot, the sale of Casa Maranello surpassed the previous record set by Villa Spectre, another property designed by Stark. That luxury mansion, inspired by the James Bond franchise, was sold for $36.8 million, with the total deal value, including furnishings and vehicles, approaching $55 million. Barry M. Smith, a retired tech CEO, was the buyer.
Casa Maranello itself is a true testament to ultra-luxury design. The mansion features several Ferrari-themed elements, including a bronze prancing horse fountain at the entrance. Inside, the home boasts extravagant features such as four Venetian chandeliers, a 30-foot bar wrapped in Brazilian tiger skin onyx, and a wellness area modeled after the famed Bulgari Hotel. This private sanctuary includes an indoor pool, a Himalayan salt room, sauna, and steam room. The property also houses a massive 95-foot-long pool with a Baja shelf and spa, enhancing the estate’s resort-like atmosphere.
Though the mansion came fully furnished, the Ferraris displayed in its 12-car gallery were part of Stark’s private collection and were not included in the sale. However, the buyer did retain the highly valued miniature Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, which was prominently showcased in the grand salon.
This sale highlights the ongoing demand for luxury real estate in South Florida, reinforcing Delray Beach’s position as a highly sought-after destination for wealthy buyers in search of exclusive properties. With its unmatched architectural design, high-end amenities, and unique touches, Casa Maranello is a perfect example of the exceptional homes that continue to define this elite real estate market.
