In a heartfelt demonstration of dedication to literacy and education, the Supreme Ventures Foundation (SVF) sparked a passion for reading among students across Jamaica on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, during the annual Read Across Jamaica Day celebrations. The day’s activities, aligning with National Education Week initiatives spearheaded by the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), emphasized the critical importance of literacy development nationwide.

“Reading is not merely a gateway to knowledge but a wellspring of boundless joy, especially for our children. By fostering a culture of literacy and engaging with our young minds, we empower not only individuals but the entire nation. The SVF takes pride in participating in National Read Across Jamaica Day activities, sharing the joy of reading with children, and advocating for its continuation beyond today,” said Chloleen Daley-Muschett, Supreme Ventures Corporate Communications and PR Manager.

SVF volunteers eagerly participated in reading sessions at primary schools throughout Kingston and St. Catherine, including St. Francis Primary, Melrose Primary and Junior High, and Waterford Primary. At Waterford Primary, SVF representatives, along with volunteers from Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), led interactive reading sessions with students from various grades. Armed with a diverse selection of storybooks, including works by local Jamaican authors, volunteers captivated young minds with tales that sparked imagination and curiosity.

In addition to the engaging reading sessions, the Supreme Ventures Foundation donated books to school libraries, ensuring that the joy of reading extends far beyond the day’s activities. Moreover, book vouchers valued at J$5000 each were distributed, along with exciting prizes, fostering a culture of literacy and learning among the students.
