Trump Media Becomes First Listing on Newly Launched NYSE Texas as Financial Shift Gains Momentum

BATV News | April 2025

In a groundbreaking development that signals Texas’ growing influence in the U.S. financial sector, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG)—the parent company of social media platform Truth Social—has become the first company to list on the newly inaugurated NYSE Texas exchange. The announcement was made Monday, coinciding with the launch of the exchange, which is owned by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

While TMTG will retain its primary listing on the Nasdaq, it also confirmed that its public warrants would be listed on NYSE Texas. This dual move is seen as both symbolic and strategic, reinforcing the Lone Star State’s ambitions to become a competitive financial hub rivaling New York.

NYSE Texas Enters a Crowded Field

Texas already hosts the largest concentration of companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange by market capitalization—totaling over $3.7 trillion. With the unveiling of NYSE Texas, the state is poised to deepen its role in national financial markets. However, the road to dominance won’t be easy.

The state’s financial landscape is heating up with new entrants and increased competition. Nasdaq has announced plans to establish a regional headquarters in Texas, reinforcing its commitment to expand in the state. Meanwhile, the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE)—backed by powerful investors such as BlackRock and Citadel Securities—has filed with regulators to begin operations as a national securities exchange by 2026.

“This listing, alongside our plans to reincorporate in Florida, shows we’re part of a growing movement to take our business to states that value free enterprise and personal freedom,” said TMTG CEO Devin Nunes. His remarks reflect a broader sentiment among corporations looking to relocate or expand in states with more favorable business climates.

Symbolism or Strategy?

While TMTG’s listing is a notable win for NYSE Texas, some analysts caution that the move may be more symbolic than practical—at least in the short term. For NYSE Texas to become a major player, it must attract liquidity and entice more established firms to list on the platform.

Still, the move has the potential to mark a shift in how and where companies choose to list their shares. Derek Wilson, co-founder of Dallas Opportunity Partners and an investor in the proposed TXSE, commented, “The Texas business-friendly environment—lack of all the political issues and a stronger focus on what business should be—has a really unique position.”

BlackRock Eyes Texas with New ETF

Adding fuel to the state’s growing financial fire, BlackRock’s iShares division has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a Texas-focused exchange-traded fund (ETF). The ETF will track companies headquartered in Texas, using the Russell Texas Equity Index. If approved, trading could begin as early as June. Although the ETF’s listing venue has not been confirmed, its creation highlights increasing investor appetite for Texas-based assets.

A New Chapter for Texas Finance

The launch of NYSE Texas, alongside the impending arrival of TXSE and other investment vehicles, points to a tectonic shift in U.S. finance. As more firms weigh the benefits of alternative markets, Texas is quickly shedding its image as a financial outlier.

With a regulatory environment that appeals to businesses and a swelling base of corporate residents, the state is positioning itself as a credible and perhaps inevitable challenger to the dominance of Wall Street.

The question now is whether NYSE Texas can leverage its early wins, like the TMTG listing, into lasting momentum. If it can, the Lone Star State may very well become the next epicenter of American finance.
