UDC Unveils Plans for Two-Storey Restaurant at Dunn’s River Falls to Elevate Visitor Experience

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) has unveiled plans for an exciting new addition to Dunn’s River Falls and Park in Ocho Rios: a two-storey restaurant and bar that will offer breathtaking views of the iconic cascading falls. This ambitious project is designed to further elevate the visitor experience at one of Jamaica’s most treasured natural attractions.

Set to accommodate over 150 guests, the restaurant will be strategically positioned to provide diners with a prime view of the majestic falls, creating a unique and immersive environment. According to the UDC, which manages a wide array of assets across Jamaica’s coastline and beyond, the design of the new facility is intended to harmonize with the park’s rustic, eco-friendly setting, ensuring that the natural beauty of the area remains the focal point.

This new development is part of a broader, multi-phased enhancement project at Dunn’s River Falls and Park, aimed at upgrading the amenities and offerings available to visitors. Currently, the park features several small shops and kiosks; however, the upcoming restaurant and bar will stand out as a more prominent and substantial venue for dining and relaxation.

Beyond its dining appeal, the new establishment will complement the park’s existing entertainment options, such as beach access, waterfall climbing, and ziplining. The UDC emphasizes that this addition will not only improve the attraction’s overall offerings but also tap into the growing culinary tourism market, attracting a wider range of visitors to the park.

The UDC’s overarching mission extends beyond just enhancing tourist attractions. As the agency behind a diverse portfolio of projects—including commercial developments, public parks, housing, and shoreline infrastructure—the UDC is dedicated to creating developments that benefit the wider Jamaican population. For the current fiscal year, the agency projects a revenue of $4.7 billion and a profit of $2.6 billion, marking a significant turnaround from previous years’ financial challenges.

The UDC generates income from a variety of sources, including natural attractions like Dunn’s River Falls, beach parks, and craft markets. Additionally, the agency owns several key properties, such as the Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston and the Ocean Village Shopping Centre in St. Ann, and it manages car parks in major cities like Kingston, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios. The UDC also provides water services in certain regions, contributing further to its financial sustainability. With total assets under management valued at $65 billion, the UDC remains a pivotal player in Jamaica’s development landscape, as highlighted in the Jamaica Public Bodies 2025 report by the Ministry of Finance.

This latest initiative at Dunn’s River Falls is yet another example of how the UDC continues to invest in Jamaica’s future, enhancing both the visitor experience and the nation’s economic growth.
